We got our first Russell in 1991 and we were hooked. We began breeding in 1995. We went to our first EJRTC Terrier Trial in 1996. We have gone strong ever since.
December 8, 2004 marks the date the American Russell Terrier Club's application was accepted for the Russell Terrier to enter into the AKC FSS program as "Jack Russell Terriers". The AKC for various reasons, later changed their name to "Russell Terrier". Only in the US, this breed is known by a different name. Everywhere else in the world where they are kennel club recognized, they are Jack Russell Terriers. Even though the AKC FSS is not full AKC recognition, we are on our way (whatever they call us)! We will still be showing and registering our pups with the UKC. The UKC clubs do a wonderful job with their shows. We are very appreciative and thankful to them for including our breed in the many shows available to us.
We show our dogs mostly in Conformation classes but we also attend Terrier Trials hosted by the ARTC. These feature classes in Conformation, Go to Ground, Flat & Steeplechase Racing and Agility (JR's love Agility). We have recently added Lure Coursing and boy are the dogs happy about that one! We are hoping to soon become involved in UKC Terrier Racing & AKC Earthdog Events.
We breed for health, temperament & conformation suitable for a working terrier. We feel the breed will be lost without the attitude and the conformation to be able to do what it was originally created to do. Our dogs have the intelligence and temperament to make excellent pets in the right active family. They love to be around people. We breed according to the FCI standard for the Jack Russell Terrier. We have puppies available to approved homes, once or twice a year. We never sell them to brokers or pet stores. To read more about our breeding philosophy, click here.
